Sew and Tell Friday #23
Another week has come and gone and many things have been accomplished in my world. Tonight after work, I did some shopping at Walmart, made a trip to Joann's to buy fabric and embroidery floss at an AWESOME sale and then made it to my boxing class. I also spent some time with the family after class for some needed R & R. What a nice way to end a demanding work week! Such fun! And tomorrow morning, I have a trip planned to check out a local quilt shop that I have not been too before. Looking forward to the adventure!
This week I made quite a demanding block for my Dear Diary redwork quilt. I love it because it is a conglomeration of sew many different ideas. And I took lots and lots of photos! YAY!

Here is the picture of the entire block. The free pattern can be found HERE at Kaaren's website, the painted quilt.
I changed the pattern a bit to make it fit into a 6" quilt block.
Here is a close up of the numbers. Random!
I love this part!
We can never have too many friends, can we???
Here is the local quilt store!
It represents the special trip I am making tomorrow!!!
I love this weeping willow tree!
The bee hive and the bees are adorable!
The top of the block has my initials and the year.
You know me, I have to make wach and every design somehow mine :)
I hope that you like the block as much as I do!
Originally the pattern was part of a tutorial for a needlecase. Maybe I need to make one of those one of these days as well!! Thanks Kaaren for such a adorable pattern!
I also have a NEW addiction! The mug rug.
There is a swap on my Seasons Yahoo group and I made this mug rug for my partner, Sharon. I need to figure out what to send with the mug rug. Maybe some cookies and Starbucks hot cocoa! I am going to post the package on Monday.

I love the pink/brown fabric combo!
I used a pattern from Jenny at elefantz.com for the center embroidery!

Here is a close up of the quilting. I love the leaf stitch on my machine!

Here is a close up of the hand embroidery. I ♥ the chain stitch heart!

One more view. I took lots of pics!!!

My fabric purchases this week were great. I fell in love with this Blueberry Sugar and Spice fabric! I bought some charm packs and a Jelly roll from the Fat Quarter shop! I am going to use it to start my Birdie Stitches BOM! Can't wait to start this project!!!

Here is my purchase! I am really excited about this one because it is an AWESOME special treat! I don't treat myself very often, but this is BETTER than chocolate! And there are not very many things that I consider better than chocolate!

I treated myself to some new floss! Yummy!!!

I treasure variegated threads. So I bought this pack for myself. I am still in search of some 4215.... the variegated blue to pink one. I have not been able to find more of that and I used all I had :(

And then there is this bunch of random skeins that I picked out. I am on a mission to have one skein of each available color. I am not sure why.... but it just seems like a good idea! LOL!
Well I have lots of things to work on and lots of new inspirations! That ought to keep me busy for at least another week. And tomorrow it is off to the quilt store. I wonder what goodies are in store for me there!!!!
Have a great weekend and may you find peace in the piecing of a quilt!!!
Take care! Hugs!
Carla♥
P.S. Hopefully, I will be linking up to several of the following linky parties throughout the next week. Do you have a favorite linky party? If so, I would love to hear about it! Drop me a line with the info! Thanks :)
