Sew Excited! New Design Wall!
It has been awhile since I have posted here on my blog. Admittedly, I have been in an emotional funk which has somehow prevented creative and/or practical blogging. OK.... I admit it has been more like an emotional train wreck! But I am now on the mend! It is not like I have not been doing any stitching! I have stitched every single day! So over the next few days, I will post about each of the projects I have made progress on in the last couple of weeks. Promise.
I am most excited about my NEW design wall. My son, Tim, was here last night and we finished my design wall.
The wall measures a total of 9 feet wide by 4 feet high. Because of the size of the wall and its domination of the room, it is really difficult to get a great picture. But here is the best we can do:
Here is a photo of the left half of the wall.
The wall was constructed with 4 rolls of cork that measured 24" x 48". The cork sheets were spread out on the wall... leveled.... and stapled to the wall with the staple gun. I must admit that it was difficult to keep the cork flat as it was in rolls, but we did the best we could.
Then we bought satin ribbon and covered the edges of the cork in ribbon.
In the middle of the two sections of the design wall, I put up four one foot sections of bulletin board. These were attached to the wall with velcro.
This photo shows the right side of the wall. There are a few minor puckers in the cork and we will stretch the cork a little after it hangs for a few days to remove the puckers.
My ironing board sits in from the the design wall.
Here is a close up of the bulletin board tiles.
I will be printing photos of quilts and projects that motivate me and I will put those on the bulletin board tiles :)
Here is another view of the wall!!!
I love the pink and brown design. I plan to make a new cover for my ironing board in a fabric that compliments my pink and brown design! I will have to shop for fabric for that this weekend!!!
And one final photo!!!
I think the importance of finishing this design wall is that it motivated me and excites me to continue to work on all of the projects I have going on!!!!
I am sew excited to have a place to pin up all of my current quilt blocks in order to get a really good idea of what the completed quilt will look like!
This weekend I will do another post about the progress on some of my projects and also a couple of new projects that I have started!!! Until then, I wish you all peace while you piece your quilts!
